Performance Evaluation of Asphalt Modified with Steel Slag Powder and Waste Tire Rubber Compounds

As two kinds of solid wastes, waste tires and steel slag have caused serious threats to the environment. Both tire rubber (WTR) powder (SSP) can improve performance asphalt, while indexes modification mechanism modified asphalt are not clear. In this paper, with SSP WTR was prepared, its evaluated. The physical properties WTR, including penetration, softening point, viscosity, were investigated. Furthermore, high-temperature performance, fatigue resistance, low-temperature blending tested a dynamic shear rheometer (DSR), bending beam (BBR), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR). results showed that same content SSP, reveals more significant effect on properties, fatigue, base than SSP. anti-rutting SSP-modified is better WTR-modified at 30~42 °C, 42~80 °C. When total same, decrease in ratio their between asphalt. Infrared spectrum verified preparation WTR- mainly process. Overall, research conducive promoting application construction high-standard pavement.
